About Outdoor Explorers Yorkshire

Founded in 2025, at Outdoor Explorers Yorkshire we’re passionate about supporting children – and their grown-ups – to get active, learn new skills, and enjoy the outdoors together. We offer engaging children’s activity sessions each week in Northallerton and sports coaching for children and families, designed to build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of movement.

Based in beautiful North Yorkshire, we also lead guided walks and outdoor experiences that reconnect you with nature. Whether it’s a muddy trail or a sunny field, we believe the best memories are made outside.

At Outdoor Explorers Yorkshire, we value participant enjoyment and development as the foundations to a long and healthy love for sport and the great outdoors. By providing a safe and fun environment, it gives the participants the chance to learn and explore some of the fundamental skills that will last them a lifetime.

Meet our founder

David Harrison-Jones is the founder and owner of Outdoor Explorers Yorkshire.

His background in sports coaching began back in 1998 at Norwich City’s Community Football Foundation working with local schools, player development centres and their centre of excellence.

David then spent time coaching football in New Jersey, USA before beginning a career in hospitality management working across hotels, theme parks, outdoor pursuits and healthcare.

Now based in Northallerton with his wife and 5 year old daughter, David has returned to his coaching roots with the launch of Outdoor Explorers Yorkshire, combining his love of the great outdoors with his passion for sports coaching. In his spare time, David volunteers for the British Red Cross Crisis Response Team supporting individuals and families impacted by floods and house fires, as a Community First Responder supporting Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and at the Northallerton Youth Club which meets every Tuesdays at the Northallerton Town Hall for children aged 11 to 19 year olds.
